Default 1jz??????

Does anybody what kind of transmission is used with the 1jz and what kind of turbos that engine has. I was also told that the 1jz gives you less issues with overheating than the 7m-gte. Has anyone done a 1jz swap into a NA body?

Dont quote me on this, but i think the 1jz comes with the same r154 as the 7m, and a slightly tougher automatic. Someone correct me if im wrong. And overall it is a better stock motor than the 7m, But i beieve the 7m has a lot more parts available and is a lot cheaper. It is also 3 liters instead of 2.5 so you have a little more torque and power cause of that once there both modded. But the 1jz is supposed to not have any headgasket problems like the 7m, But i would still upgrade it anyway, as with any high boost motor.

theyre almost identical engines
except for the fact that the 1jz came with twins
and i dont think it has the headgasket problem

but with the 1jz the aftermarket/part support isnt as strong as for the 7m
but when it all comes down to it, i think it depends on a person's preference

It uses the same 5 speed (r-154) with a different bellhousing.

Manual trans is an R154 like Nate and ISPHIUS said, and the auto tranny is the A340. The turbos are the CT12a.

So they pretty much use the same drive shaft as the turbo supra since it is the same tranny. How hard is it to swap it over to an NA supra? Has anyone done it? Some guy at NOPI did it but it was a turbo supra to begin with. He told me it was pretty much plug n play is this true?

I've jammed one in an NA 1986.5. It is pretty much plug and play, except for the fact you need to change the front crossmember to suit the ijz.
