Bump...I'd also like to know this. My system takes way too much from my battery. My lights dim...and sometimes my radio just shuts off for like 30 seconds. Very frustrating!

you could always try a capacitor. i know theyre used to help out your system with the power drain issue. as for whether or not you can upgrade your alternator idk...sorry.

The 92-95 MR2 alternator will work. But if the car is pre 89, you will need the pulley off of the alternator of a post 89 car. It's plug and play from there. It's a 100amp alternator.

Why post 89? I have never heard of that before. Could you please explain? LOL I went and bought a 95 MR-2's alternator last night and wa going to install it (guy before me had alot of extras that even though he took most out I have safely secured the wires and/or deactivted them so I can use them when I start the detailing and wht not of my car.)

The pulleys on the pre-89 alternators are a different size than the post 89 ones.
