no man, i said this b4 , what sucks is the fact that he never let me drive it not even once
sure i got somewhat a lot of speeding tickets
thats just proves that i can drive at high speeds right? lol

but idk about the 1jz
yes it might not have the HG problem but

smaller displacement?
then you got the twins, i know its nice to say that u got twin turbo
but is it really worth-it?

i mean u can get the same numbers with the 7mgte anyways
if its done right

I can live with a smaller eninge that pushes 60more hp then the 7mgte there isnt much that could touch it beside what injectors and everthing does that use and is the exhuast on the 1jz 2.5 or a full 3in with high flow cats? that makes a big diff your be at 300hp before you relized it lol

still, witht the money u spend on the ijz putting it in

would be enuff to make a 7mgte run about 400 hps
this is where the $:HP ratio comes into play

Default The reason for doing the swap...

I know its more cost effective to just upgrade the 7m but I at the moment have low compression numbers on all 6 cylinders.. If I wanna do any type of racing im gonna need a better engine or rebuild the one I have. Since I need to replace the one I have, why not just swap in the 1j while im at it?

I have a new question that you guys might be able to help me with. I just found a rust free supra 86.5 n/a. With only 79000 miles on it. Would the 1jz bolt right in to this car? With a 89+ cross member and motor mounts offcourse. Because If this is the case I am not gonna spend the $800 to fix the rusty rear panels on my car... I will just sell it and buy this one. I feel that its a better canidate for the swap... Anways I might have a 89 turbo supra for SALE, with 136,000 miles, 5 speed, interior is almost a 9/10,its got the blue cloth interior. Car runs fine just has that idle issue at times which im going to fix before its sold. If you want to race this thing I suggest you refresh the motor. I drive it 50 miles every day and it runs fine. I would like to get $3000 obo. I havent completely decided on this it will depend on how good this other supra is.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE DETAILS ON CAR PLEASE PM ME AND I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER YOU QUESTIONS.

boy, oh boy. if we're going to have a 1JZ vs. 7M "discussion", can we try to keep it knowledgeable?
BICPerformance.com sells 1JZ motor mount adapters for 89- crossmembers, so you can bolt a 1JZ into the 86.5 chassis without problem. If that 86.5 Supra is nicer than yours, then by all means get rid of yours in favor of that chassis.
The problem with converting to RHD is not simply drilling new holes, I wish it was that easy.
Basically, if you have to ask how hard it is, it's too hard.
You're going to need to drill out all the spot welds on the firewall, and transplant the RHD firewall into your LHD chassis.
Its' not easy.
RHD cars aren't illegal, anywhere.
If anyone hassles you, tell them that the car was used as a mail delivery vehicle for a while, and that you bought it second-hand.
Nobody has to know, and nobody has the power to make you change it to LHD.
By all means, check your local laws, but the last time I called my local state police, they had nothing on it. They just wanted to know why I wanted to do such a thing, and a couple of them wanted to see it when I was done... lol
I never did it though. It's not worthit from my POV.

Thumbs up thanks for the info..

Thanks for all your input guys. It helped alot. I think I will do the RHD conversion. But have decided to take welding classes first... If I am not ready by summer time I will still do the 1jz swap without the RHD conversion. I will post some pics up for your viewing pleasure if I do attempt it and am succesful. I really dont want to butcher a perfectly good supra so I am gonna learn to weld and do body work first. By the way anyone got a BVSV Charcoal canister sensor?? It has two vaccume lines running to it.. Its close to the front of the car by the intake side. Please let me know if anyone has this! This is whats causing my rough idle at times..

That is where state laws come into play. In Canada it's easy, but in the states, theres a lot more work involved.
