1jz in an 87?
Now I know that there is lots of info around as to what I need for parts. Here is what I've gathered so far.
~1jz Motor mount adapter brackets (do I have to get the front cross member from an 89+ if I get these?) ~Toyota 2JZ-GTE high pressure power steering hose ~Substitute found @ partsamerica.com 44403-14020 ~Toyota 2JZ-GTE power steering union bolt 90401-16014 ~Toyota 2JZ-GTE throttle cable 78180-1B090 ~Pressure port gasket #2 44327-26020 ~Pressure port gasket #1 44327-12010 ~2JZ Valve cover gaskets Int 11213-46020 Exh 11214-46010 ~Toyota Supra 89+ front crossmember ~Toyota Supra89+ fluid motor mounts or custom mounts 12361-42050 Here is my question, where do you recommend buying the swap from? I looked around and most people say get a front clip but what about the 1jz swap from a site like jdm-online.com? If I buy that kit is the tranny going to work out or should I not bother? Sorry if I sound like an uber noob but this is pretty new to me, I am a honda guy by nature, just got sick of no power lol. Anything else I'm missing? Thanks guys. |

As for the brackets....get these (2nd product down) and you wont have to worry about getting the 89+ crossmember. Not sure if you have it, but you'll need the turbo 7M transmission (R154). The nonturbo transmission (W58) wont last too long. Here's the bell housing for the turbo tranny to connect it to the engine. You'll also need to extend the harness on the dash side by about 18" As for a place to get it, I'd say a clip from jarcoinc.com Look for JZA70 Supra. If you get a clip and it doesn't come with it, you'll have to buy a R154 driveshaft and support.
