Dash lights
Hey,
I'm new to this forum, but I got a question that I didn't see asked b4. I just picked up an 87 n/a on ebay for $700, it's totally sweet. The guy said he'd stored it for two years and when he got it out, it wouldn't run or shift right (A/T) I just changed fluids and never had any problems runningwise with the car. However, the dash lights won't work at all, just the ones that light up the display face when the headlights are on, everything else works great (warning lights etc.) I've checked the obvious (bulbs, fuses) but nothing is working. electronically the only things that have been changed is the TEMS is disconnected due to aftermarket shocks and springs and someone hacked a CD player into it pretty badly. Oh, I don't know if this is in connection with the dash lights or no, but the heater/A/C panel's lights go out when the headlights are switched on and the orange warning light switch is on, but none of the lights bulbs are blown. Any ideas? I'm totally at a loss. . . thanks |

Its common for the dimmer switch to go bad, try to source one for your year or an 86.5. 88 might work but they changed them in 88-89 iirc

Damn, you have the same problem i have. Try a new dimmer switch and let me know if it works. I think mine has to do with the switch that you use to turn on the headlights. I'm still not sure tho.

Thanks, and any thoughts as to where to get a dimmer switch? Just from Toyota? they're kinda juicemasters though. I live in the country so that means all the junk yards are only filled with GM's. . .
Also, I think mine may have to do with the light switch, are they the same on all MKIII's? Last edited by Furious1; 03-29-2007 at 07:22 PM. |
