Thr real deal or a fake ??
i found a supra for sale and this is what the seller said aobut it
1990 Toyota Supra, 5spd, removable roof, ac, cc, new metallic black paint, new turbo, alternator, master brake, clutch, new wheels and tires, new engine, decent condition for age, not abused, serious callers only, $4,500 obo sounds a little cheap to me but it has been for sale for a while on this website but there is the pic it looks really nice and i want it bad but i dont no if it is the real deal sounds alittle cheap like isaid but tell me what uthink should i go for it or not

i paid 4500 for mine and it came stock and 150k miles on the motor ran great. then the clutch sezied. then the boost wasnt enough, and it didnt Blow off. and uh then the check engine light started to come on.

well i would go for a test drive but thr car is in california and im in texas so its a 19hr drive and i dont wanna go all the way there and there be no car it is the excat car i want and have been looking for and if it is a real deal i would go right now and get but im not sure i don no i would love ot have that car tho

You definitley want him to send you any pics he has of the engine bay inside and out. Have him show you the flaws and then multiply that x's 10 and you have your worst case scenario. 4.5k Sounds high to me but he did list many extras.
It's a targa top so 3.5k max bet. Haggle with him. Looks like he's only trying to pocket a grand on the deal to me. Just get more pics and make sure it runs. The fact that it's parked in a handicap space may elude to it runs but it could be dead at his work place as well. Hard to say. As for your test drive...., these cars can be 100 miles from throwing a clutch or a head gasket. Even when these autos' are ill they hide it by driving so well. If you aren't a mechanic..., you will be if you buy this auto. This could be a good car. A cali car at that he is right by all of the after market parts houses. Good Luck. |

You think $4,500 is cheap?! I think thats pricey. How many miles on it? And if you talk to the owner ask him when the head gasket was replaced and ask him if he used ARP hardware. If he doesn't know what you are talking about then its a safe bet that it is leaking. All 7M factory torqued head gaskets leak, it just depends how hard the car was driven that determines how bad it does leak. It's not a question of IF its going to finally go, its WHEN.
I paid $2,500 for my rust-free hard top 87 turbo 5spd with new paint that needed nothing. Head gasket lasted 1,500 miles with me behind the wheel. But the overflow never worked since the day I bought it until I replaced the head gasket, so I knew it was on its way. I also did a block test the week I got it and the blue fluid turned green (yellow is a definite combustion leak) but green is halfway to yellow so, again, it was on its way. Unless you want the "luxury" of replacing the head gasket, I'd look for a supra that has a new head gasket with ARP bolts and all the receipts and paperwork from the machine shop the head was machined at. Pictures of the rebuild wouldn't hurt either. Thats why I fully documented my head gasket replacement, when I do sell it there won't be a shadow of a doubt that I'm not bullshitting when I say its been replaced. Because anybody can just say "Yep! Head gasket was replaced!"...... I'd say, Prove it. |

Just some fyi...., but the front lip spoiler you can see is cracked on the driver side corner. That lip is a toyota only part and they want $225.00 for one.
Nothing hurts worse than spending big bucks on plastic parts. Ask about the fan shroud. Because it's toyota only at $125.00 Tail lights cracked??? $400.00 for the pair aftermarket and oem. Then when you are working on it..., toyota has changed or upgraded some of the parts and you have to work with their upgrades, and they won't answer you on anything as to why this part or that has an extra piggy back or a 12 volt plug in. |
