Having a lot of difficulty bleeding the brakes
Hi all, I installed new stock replacement calipers in the rear and I started to bleed the system with my buddy but the pedal would get a decent amount of pressure with the engine off, but when it was turned on there was no pressure, it took about seven to ten pumps to get just the smallest amount of pressure with the vehicle running, I made sure the rear bleeder screws were pumping out all brake fluid and no air before starting the engine, but I guess there is some air some where, I don't have ABS, I read in a previous post it could be a master cylinder defect but the only thing I don't understand the car had good pressure in the pedal before the calipers were replaced, so I have no idea on what to do, any help would be very grateful.
Is there a certain way I should have bled them? I did start to bleed the front two I started with the front right and my buddy said while it was running it was about two pumps and it built up good pressure, I then pursued to bleed the front left and then all the pressure was gone after I bled it, so as of now I am at a loss. Also I saw bubbles popping up in the master cylinder as the brakes were being pumped I don’t know if that is normal but its and observation. Last edited by Chambers; 05-24-2007 at 08:54 PM. |

I'm not saying i'm the one doing it right but i did the bleeding while the car was on for some reason, i would tighten the bleeder screw, have a buddy pump the pedal until it got hard, release the screw.. watch air and fluid come out while he held the pedal to the floor i tightened it back up. then repeated the process till no air was coming out. then did the other lines. everything seemed to work fine after that. also tried a brake bleeding vacuum tool that worked out, i dunno if any of this helps. good luck, hope you get it.

Ok, now I think something is screwed up, the rear caliper bleeders are berly pushing any brake fluid out when the pedel is held and the front are shooting brake fluid out, and the rear calipers are not moving as the front are, does anyone know whats going on? I need help bad.

You are supposed to start at the passenger rear caliper, then drivers rear, then passenger front, then the drivers front. Thats the proper way.

I got it, Thanks.
Ok, I've got it, I though the master cylinder was to blame but me and my buddy losened the fittings and it was pumping fluid well, so we did the rear again and by some fault it worked. Thanks for all your help!!
