Today a good friend gave me a 1989 supra that needs a motor. I myself am a 240sx player so I've got an built SR20DET motor with approx 405hp. Has any one attempted this install? Or even heard of someone trying this? Am I crazy? I'm gonna do it either way I was just trying to get a little advice thats all. Can anyone help me?

You might run into some positioning problems seeing as the SR20 is a lot shorter than the motor that was in it. I am sure it has been done I think the guy that did that V12 in the mark 4 had also done a SR20 in a mark 4 I cant remember. I would look at if you are going to bastardize the car though measurments on the mounts because I am gonna bet you that you will have to make some sort of adapter that carrys the motor further back to sit in the proper position. You would prolly be better off just finding a old 240sx like a early 90s one and dropping it in a lot less work from my standpoint. Pluss the Supra motors like the 7MGTE, 1JZGTE, 1GGTE, and the 2JZGTE are capable of a ton more horsepower and performance than the SR20 you are wanting to put in. Just look at the numbers KWNate is turning with his 7MGTE nuff said.

Fabricate motor mounts, redo the wiring harness on the dash side to be able to hook it up to the dash connectors, fabricate a tranny mount, and fabricate a driveshaft.

Couldnt be any harder than the sr20det conversion I am doing on my MGB...
![]() Everything in this car is custom...rear end...motor mounts...trans crossmember...turbo manifold...down pipe...harness... I guess it all depends on what you want to do. The original B series engine would not make the hp the sr20det could period. If I was you I would buy one of these fully built partouts you see laying around. It would be a lot cheaper in the long run |

a toyota should have a toyota engine and a nissan should have a nissan engine. to me dropping in a sr20 into a toyota is like being a sellout. sr20's are good and all but not in a toyota, i have nothing against nissan i like silvias and sileighties too but i love my supra and i rather just drop a M or JZ engine in it. just my opinion
