Default November 2006 road and track.

hey guys im looking for a sports car and i was reading my new road and track magazine when i see the 2008 supra. it think it looks awsome and should be a great car. the car i was currently debating weather or not to get was the rx-8 but as some of you might know the 8's lack power. so i see the new supra should come with a 3.5 liter 350 hp engine from the lexus gs350 and it also says possibly a 4.3 v-8. one thing i was wondering though is if the supras can hold up in the twisties thats one of the thing i like the most about the rx-8 and i was wondering if the older supras were known for good handling.

By older do you mean MKIII? I have one and stock they're a bit heavy and lean alot in corners. They can be made to handle very nicely though. Stiffer bushings/sway bars, coil overs, strut tower bars, etc..

If you *really really* want to corner well, not to suggest something besides a supra, you might wanna look into the Lotus Elise. Not the most comfortable car in the world but damn it can corner.

I'd say just stick with his original choice of the RX-8, if the Supra's can't keep up. Having driven one, they stick to the road like glue *and* they have a really nice ride. However, the road and track article said that the new Supra will weight 3200lbs, which is only about 150lbs more than the RX-8. Combine that with a wheelbase that will probably be a tad bigger than the RX-8, and I think the next Supra will be just fine.

I have heard various rumors about the Supra. I just need some verification. Everytime I speak with a Toyota representative they say they have no plans to make a new one. But then I read on RoadandTrack.com that Toyota will be producing one and it will come out in October 2007. This is the link for the Road and Track article....http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=4

I'm wondering if this is true or just another rumor. I would love for a new Supra to come out as I own a 1987 Toyota Supra and would like to see the Supra name live on as would many, many other people.

Thanks,
Casey Coughlin

This is the e-mail reply I got from Toyota when I asked them. They are keeping this car under wraps pretty well if it is infact coming out.

http://www.ddmcse.com/turbo/2007ToyotaSupraPicture.html

course it's not even 2007 yet so there is still hope for the 2007
