You mean 86 and 86.5. The 86 supras were MK II's, and the 86.5 ones were MK III's. That's the difference, and it's a pretty considerable one at that.

Personally, I'd just bolt the tranny back on, drain the tranny, pull the driveshaft, disconnect all the wiring/clutch/speedometer stuff, and pull the tranny with the engine... that's what I did...
